’42 by Eneko Axta’ wins a Gold Medal plus the trophy for the ‘Best White Wine’ of the entire contest in the prestigious Brussels International Competition May 2019. (Switzerland) Out of 9.150 wines from 46 producing countries this was judged to be the best!
42 by Eneko Axta - Ripe citrus fruit aromas, with light notes of brioche from the period spent in oak. The palate has citrus and some tropical fruit notes with lightly toasted, saline and savoury characters and fresh acidity.
Renowned chef Eneko Atxa oversees the kitchen at the splendid 3 Michelin-starred restaurant Azurmendi in the grounds of the Gorka Izagirre winery. This stunning wine compliment the world-class food on offer.
The winery decided to honour him with this wine the first to use French oak casks at the winery. 42 refers to the number of days the first vintage spent in oak.
