Kanu Rockwood - The ‘Rockwood' has reached cult status. It's a blend of 56% Shiraz, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Merlot, 4% Roobernet.
It has a nose of dark chocolate and raspberry, complemented by the peppery, nutmeg and cinnamon notes of Shiraz. Its has a soft, velvety texture with lively fruit that ends in a long dry finish.
Kanu has an enviable reputation amongst the world press for producing fabulously consistant wines. In the past couple of years they have received phenomenal acclaim and numerous awards. The name Kanu is derived from a veteran farm hand on Goedgeloof, who told of the legend of a mythical bird of promise. The story tells that when the bird appeared, all those who fell under its shadow would be blessed with a bountiful harvest!
The diverse terroir of Stellenbosch provides excellent sites for many grape varieties, here they have blended four together to make the unique ‘Rockwood'
This wine can actually be served slightly cooled in summer months with cold ham and salads.
Drinking really well now, but will benefit from two to three years' bottle maturation.
