Koopmanskloof 'The Mother Blocks' Carignan - Sourced from the oldest corner of the farm, this bush vine Carignan has Christmas cake aromas, a soft and supple palate veiled with cloves and black pepper. The single largest farming unit in Stellenbosch, Koopmanskloof is thelegacy of Stevie Smit, the visionary viticulturalist and farmer, who bequeathed this 200 year old property to the workers upon his death three years ago. A champion of bio-diversity in the Cape, this remarkable establishment is acknowledged as one of the founders of ethical farming, is acknowledged by Fairtrade (FLO), but crucially has spectacularly distinct and flavoursome wines from the ancient and largely bush-vine grown fruit. |
