Alphonse Mellot Sancerre La Moussiere - Deliciously dry and herbaceous with a pungent, expressive bouquet of crystalline fruits and wonderful length.

The Mellot family first made wine in 1513. During the 19th Century Alphonse
established a tavern in Sancerre, and today the 18th and 19th generations of
the family - both Alphonse - control the business that grew out of the little
tavern. Alphonse senior took control of the estate in 1970, and began focusing
on quality rather than volume. Today the vineyard owned by the family is a
manageable 47 hectares or thereabouts, farmed largely organically. Alphonse
junior has now taken the lead, and today works with his father to make and
promote the wines.
