Domaine La Haute Marone Gigondas - Gigondas wines from the southern Rhone are much like their neighbour Chateauneuf-du-Pape, every bit as good but lesser known in the UK and therefore less expensive. The old vines of the 'Haut Marone' vineyard that produce this Gigondas are a pure expression of what old vine Grenache, Syrah and a special patch of Mourvedre are all about. Rich and complex this vintage has intense aromas of ripe raspberries and black cherries, then a wisp of smoke creeps in along with some hints of grilled cocoa beans. Then the wine real hits the palate with an explosion of flavours! An elegant deep and intense wine. Drink now or cellar for up to five years. |
