The McRae Wood Shiraz Jim Barry - This iconic Shiraz is in a class of its own. The nose displays ripe red/black fruit aromas as well as notes of strawberries, black cherry, sweet fruity oak and black pepper. The palate is rich and concentrated, with plummy, liquorice, cherry, blackberry and some charry, toasty oak. "You will only be remembered by how good your last bottle of wine tasted" is the Jim Barry motto. He planted his first vineyards in 1959, and swiftly became one of Clare Valley's great names. Today, his passionate, cricket-mad sons uphold the tradition of powerful flavours and brilliant balance. In 1964 Jim purchased twenty-eight hectares of prime land from Duncan McRae Wood and planted his first vineyard with Shiraz. It's now one of the most sought after wines in Australia. Very limited availability. |
