Sideral Altair - One of Chile's very best wines. This is indeed mighty, yet crucially a non-Herculean wine. Intense garnet, ruby in colour with aromas of plums, wood smoke and vanilla whilst the tannins are well integrated. A really elegant and sophisticated wine that drinks well now and will keep for 5 years. Bang on for that special celebration! With a dazzling level of investment and a pioneering spirit applied to both viticulture and winemaking, Altair have taken the challenge to produce some of the world's best Cabernet seriously. Nestled at the very top of the Totihue Valley in the foothills of the imposing Andes mountains, Altair's impressive architecture is a sure statement of intent but it has been more than matched by the quality of the initial releases. Winemaker Ana Maria Cumsille crafts exquisite wines from this steep, naturally low yielding, deep gravelly site. |
