Soave is a perfect candidate for Stelvin, however, daft DOC rules insist on cork for classico, so this wine is now labelled 'Soave' where as before exactly the same wine was labelled 'Soave Classico'!
Pra Soave - Fresh, flowery and lightly yeasty nose. The palate is pleasantly textured and juicy, showing zesty 'leesy' intensity and a hint of almonds. Crisp, incisive and minerally finish.
This 20 hectare estate in the commune of Monteforte D'Alpone in the very heart of the Soave Classico district is run by brothers Sergio and Graziano Pra. They are universally regarded as one of only a handful of world-class producers in Soave who have revitalised the region.
This wine is described in the 2007 Gambero Rosso guide as.. 'an absolutely magnificent wine of which every wine enthusiast should have a few bottles tucked away'.
Good with a goats cheese, basil and roasted red pepper salad; asparagus or delicate fish sprinkled with lemon juice.
Press Quote Pra Soave Classico 2007 "Bright fresh peach and citrus character, with a hint of blanched almond showing on the nose. Medium-bodied, with good balance and a delicate yet persistent finish. Refined. Drink now. 10,000 cases made." Wine Spectator August 2008
