Three Monks Taltarni Fumé Blanc - Taltarni is one of the Australian pioneers of Sauvignon Blanc. This Three Monks Fumé Blanc is hand crafted from low yielding fruit grown in Taltarni's own vineyards in Victoria's Pyrenees and Tasmania.
70% of the blend was fermented in stainless steel to enhance the tropical and passionfruit flavours, the remaining 30% of the blend was barrel fermented in French oak. A delicious wine.
Described by Robert Joseph as "one of the most beautiful vineyards on the planet" Taltarni's rolling hills, sweeping vistas, stands of gum trees create a spectacular backdrop. The name originates from an aboriginal word meaning ‘red earth' and applies directly to the iron rich red soils of the region. They make classic central Victorian wines, dense, powerful but with a uniquely fine and balanced structure and a marked tannic backbone that allows them to age beautifully.
The young but already renowned winemaker Loic Le Calvet studied his craft in Bordeaux but was tempted away to coax the best out of these unique and now fully mature vineyards.
