Doricum Nero d Avola - £6.39 - This Nero d'Avola offers an authentic yet fruit-driven example of this remarkable variety. It displays delicious, juicy cherry and damson fruit on the nose with a fresh appealing palate with just a hint of spice and a dark smokiness. Nero d'Avola is literally 'the black grape of Avola' and is Sicily's premier native grape. Doricum Nero d'Avola is made from grapes cultivated in the Salemi area, close to Trapani in the western part of Sicily. It has enjoyed a long and slow fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then refined for 3 to 4 months in bottle before being released. |
