Sangiovese Fattoria Mancini - The Mancini family have made wine in Marches for five generations specialising in juicy, crunchy, appetizing Sangiovese. Here generous aromas of elderberry and mulberry abound with a lovely sweetness of fruit on the palate.
Mancini's Sangiovese grows on the coastal hills of the San Bartolo Natural Park in the far north of the Marche region. The cool microclimate and the sandy soils of the coastal cliffs cause the Sangiovese to aqcuire distinctive characteristics which differ from the Sangiovese wines produced further south. Grapes were hand-harvested and transported to the winery in a mobile cooling cellar.
The next morning, grapes were destemmed and pressed. Fermentation took place in tank with a combination of délestage, pumping over and punch downs for around fifteen days. The fermentation was temperature controlled and malolactic fermentation was carried out in barrel. The maturation period was twelve months, with sixty-five percent of the wine aged on its lees in French oak barrels, and the remainder in stainless steel.
