Saintsbury Carneros Pinot Noir - An excellent Pinot Noir that shows just how good Pinot from this part of the world can be. A winning combination of generosity and finesse marks this wine, which offers black cherry and spice aromas, with an intense fruit focused palate and a long mineral finish.
One of the USA's best respected producers of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, Saintsbury has been championing an elegant, more "European" style for over twenty-five years. Dick Ward and David Graves met at oenology classes at UC Davis in 1977, and founded Saintsbury in 1981, two years before the Carneros appellation was officially recognized. Since then they have remained at the forefront of experimentation in both vineyard and cellar, with detailed investigation into (among other things) clones, irrigation and filtration helping them continually refine the style of their wines and stay at the top of the quality tree in these two varieties.
The grapes for this wine were sourced from ten vineyards located throughout Carneros, with the emphasis on the Napa side of the appellation. The wine spent ten months in French oak (30% new)
